Purpose:
This workshop aims to help all potential/actual researchers identify the most appropriate research approach to undertaking their research. How do you know what approach is the best fit with personal values, clinical assumptions and most importantly, in answering the research question.

Outcome:
At the end of the workshop participants will have a greater understanding of research paradigms

Preparing for the workshop:
It is recommended you attend the research question workshop prior to this one so that you have a better understanding of what you are hoping to achieve.

Workshop Outline 3: Subject to change

  • Introductions and welcome - what am I doing here?
  • What is your paradigm fit?
  • Qualitative and quantitative research approaches (paradigms)
  • Risks, strengths and benefits of a chosen approach
  • Action planning and evaluation of learning
